REMINDER-Telehealth 3-month Extension

Congress passed a short-term Continuing Resolution (CR), funding the federal government until March 14, 2025. 

Included in the bill was a 3-month extension of the following Medicare telehealth flexibilities: 

• RHCs can continue to serve as a telehealth distant site, billing G2025 until March 31, 2025
• The occasional in-person visit for mental health telehealth visits is waived until March 31, 2025
• Medicare geographic and originating site flexibilities will also continue until March 31, 2025 (allowing patients to receive telehealth services from their home, etc.)

Generally, institutional providers, suppliers, and treatment programs pay an application fee when enrolling, re-enrolling, revalidating, or adding a new practice location.

Medicare wellness visits

Medicare covers 2 types of exams:

1. Initial preventive physical exam (IPPE) – one-time visit for new Medicare patients within 12 months of first Part B coverage period:
   • Review medical and social health history
   • Discuss preventive services
2. Annual wellness visit (AWV) – covered for patients who:
   • Aren’t within 12 months after their first Part B coverage period’s effective date
   • Haven’t had an IPPE or AWV within the past 12 months

Find out when your patient is eligible for these exams. If you need help, contact your eligibility service provider.
